What NLP is
In 1975, Richard Bandler and John Grinder set out to discover how excellent communicators did what they did. They wondered if it was possible to break down the behaviours of people who were excellent in their field and reproduce them.
It turns out, they could do just that.
Initially they studied the likes of Milton Eriksson, Fritz Perls and Virginia Satir. Over the years, many others contributed their own excellence to the techniques of NLP, leading to the body of techniques we have today.
The body of techniques, taught today as NLP, contain ways of changing thoughts, beliefs, resolving conflicts and eliminating negative emotions that previously were limiting.
NLP is a set of guiding principles and techniques for use in real life. It is not a scientific theory - it is all about giving people choice, and new choices of how to behave, react, respond emotionally and physically. By understanding how the mind works, we can use it to remove previous limitations that we may have imposed on ourselves.
Most importantly, is it a spirit of curiosity and experimentation to find out what gets results and then replicate those results, every time.
